Virgin Knitters is a collection of scarves made by people who have never knit before. I have been teaching people to knit in exchange for their first project since 2007. I believe that the first scarf a person makes is especially unique—even lucky—because you can only make something for the first time once. The scarves are being exhibited at the Textile Arts Center in Brooklyn, New York until December 16, 2010. There was an silent auction at the gallery to find wearers for the scarves. See photo of the opening party below and click through the completed projects at left to see the finished scarves and the work that went into them.

Now all the completed bid sheets are posted on each scarf’s page so you can see all of the interesting stories and comments from the bidders (and who took home which scarf!).
